Harry Houdini

Experience the reincarnation of Harry HOUDINI including his life, his magic, and his incredible escapes! Learn the inspiring life story of an immigrant boy who became the greatest escape artist and showman of all time!

Performed in-character by actor, magician, and escape artist Bill Martin, HOUDINI will invite audience members on stage to earn $100.00 if they can defeat him with ropes, chains, handcuffs, locks, and a straight jacket.  These are authentic escapes performed only as the master himself performed them at the height of his career.  It was America’s emerging 20th century.  It was “the roaring 20’s.”  It was an exciting time of tremendous social change.  Discover why HOUDINI became known as the great self-liberator to the new Americans in search of economic independence, social justice, and freedom.

An historically accurate portrayal with a strong humanities aspect.  Adaptable for adult and school audiences. Schools and non-profit organizations in New Mexico may apply for sponsorship of this program by the New Mexico Humanities Council (505-277-3705).

"Outstanding performance. 'HOUDINI held the rapt attention of our large group. Kept us on our toes with fascinating escapes. A superb performance."
- Civitan District Meeting
"'HOUDINI' drew the largest crowd during our three day arts festival. Held entire audience (students and families) captive. Historical information mixed with magic and escape artistry. A standing ovation."
- Eastern New Mexico Education Resource Center
